Today I ventured to have lunch at a café near my place. I had a soup and sandwich combo, neither of which were particularly yummy. The café itself was a nice place to chill at though, very homey. And it deserves a gold star for its name: Café Diem. I thought it'll be a good place to study, if I needed a change of environment.
After that I went for a much needed haircut. I can understand why the lads here keep their hair so shortly cropped. I didn't quite enjoy having my hair being blown about all ends of my head.
It had also gotten to a point where I was getting out of bed with my hair in a pom-pom and with no mirror at home to remedy the mess.
What? no, I don't use wax. I use wind |
The barber I went too was reasonably priced I guess. He was really clean too: he swept away the hair from the previous customer before cutting mine. The Malay barbers I go to have hair all over the floor. Not that it bothers me, it was just nice to see the barber had a pride in keeping the place looking tidy.
That place to had an amusing sign hung at every mirror: "Please switch of your mobile phone during your haircut." That's something you'd expect to see at a movie! I wonder if other barbers here have signs like that too.
I suppose using the phone during a haircut could be inconvenient for the barber? because you'd always be looking down... But I also suspect they find it rude. In a way they are engaging with your head, so maybe they expect some kind of reciprocation. Not necessarily small talk, but at least to be mentally present. I could be wrong though.
Anyway, I am pretty sure it's spring now. Things are... springing. One or two types of trees have begun to blossom, and a few others are leafing (is that a word?).
Say goodbye to the cold and misery |
Well, that is perfect. All the Irish have been promising that weather in spring will be great. I really hope it will be, and just in time for some traveling. Tomorrow's the last day of school before our midterm break. And we get two weeks off! Then Saturday I head to Liverpool for about a week. The weekend after is St Paddy's.
So many things to look forward to.
